History breakdown: Salon 9 was born in 1981. Opened originally by Fred Pecora. Fred carried the salon through the great hair decades of the 80's & 90's. He Sold in 1999 to Sarah Oba. By 2005 Sarah was ready to start a family and passed Salon 9 along to Liz Garcia.
My Story: I was really enjoying working behind the chair but always desired more. When Sarah gave me the opportunity to take over I knew it was time to re-prioritize my life and dedicate myself to growing this business. In hindsight, only being 21 years old I may have bit off a little more than I could chew, but I'm always up for a challenge. And challenging it was. We were originally located in Anaheim right next to a set of railroad tracks. In 2009 we were given an Eminent Domain notice due to railroad construction. This news demanded a choice of either closing our doors, that have serviced the community for over 30 years, or to find a new home. We moved to a great spot in historic Old Town Orange. Thankfully all my staff were able to follow. In late 2012 I decided to take on another challenge by opening a sister salon. Remedy Hair Shoppe is located in the newly redeveloped Downtown Anaheim area known as Center Street Promenade. Remedy is now owned by Alyssa Stopani and her sister Pita Rodriguez. It was a great accomplishment to start a salon from the ground up and pass it on to an employee that started out at Salon 9 as a receptionist. I have a fairly different attitude about work than a lot of my peers. I love to work hard, and when you do what you love, you love what you do. Cheesy I know. That being said, I think hairdressing is absolutely amazing, Salon 9 is my true home, I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else.
